In the spotlight
Not to create a panic, but crises can happen. While we hope you won’t face one, know that if you do, your intranet can be a lifeline.
Trust for Nature, located in Australia, partners with private landholders in the State of Victoria to protect native plants and wildlife. We asked them to share how their intranet helped with their response to the recent bushfires in the region. Here's what they did:
- Set up Discussions for their bushfire response steering group, to ensure information flowed quickly and transparently.
- Posted new papers, webinars, and resources that came out about post-fire land management.
- Used Library and the Jostle mobile app to connect staff in the field with their occupational, health, and safety management system.
- Cut down on all staff email by posting staff movements in the Activity feed.
- Created a space for team members whose properties were burned and/or damaged to share stories and photos, allowing colleagues all over the state to send supportive comments.
With their fast and clear organizational response, they were able to raise $50,000 in donations for bushfire recovery. It's estimated that further recovery efforts will need 10 times that amount, so if you’re interested in contributing you can make a donation here.
